A Winter Engagement Session in Downtown Athens, Georgia

January 23, 2024

Spent my day off in the Classic City capturing an engagement session for these two lovebirds! It was a beautiful day (60 degrees in JANUARY… what?!) and what was supposed to be a cloudy, rainy day actually gave us some sunshine! It was magical, even with blocked off streets, parades, and crowds of people everywhere!

Caroline and Calvin met in high school where they played for the same soccer club and I gotta say, I am a sucker for the high school sweethearts! They are both from the area and attend the University of Georgia, so when we were deciding where to do their engagement session, there was no questions – Athens, of course! However, because Calvin graduated recently and with Caroline graduating soon, we wanted to avoid the stereotypical Athens locations such as North Campus (no hate to UGA’s campus – I would shoot there any day of the week!) because they would have all of their graduation photos here and they wanted their engagement photos to be different. Caroline is an interior design major and suggested the post office in downtown. I was sold. After doing some looking around, we decided to make a few stops to the local church and City Hall right down the road. I love having a bride with a creative eye! It not only gives me inspiration, but it also makes me so happy to have someone appreciate the little things like a fun fence, beautiful columns, and other small details that other people may not notice! It also was the reason she chose her venue, because of the beautiful structure of the Taylor-Grady House!

Everything about this engagement session in Downtown Athens was a DREAM. I think this goes without saying, but I absolutely cannot wait to capture their wedding at the Taylor-Grady House in Athens in June!

Here are a few of my favorites from their session!
